Plasticité synaptique dans le cortex entorhinal en tant que lieu de la mémoire épisodique

Abstract How our brains store and recall memories of events and experiences is a major unsolved problem of importance to cognitive neuroscience and psychology, disorders such as Alzheimer's disease, and efforts to develop neuroscience-inspired artificial intelligence. Compelling evidence indicates that memories of this kind, called episodic memories, rely on the hippocampal formation, a brain area that includes the hippocampus and associated parahippocampal structures such as the entorhinal cortex. ?t a cellular level memories are thought to be stored through changes in synaptic connections between neurons, a process referred to as synaptic plasticity. Current theories assume that synaptic plasticity underlying episodic memory takes place in the hippocampus and that the role of parahippocampal structures is to process signals passed between the hippocampus and the neocortex.
