The DLR is the German research and technology center for aerospace. In its core areas of aerospace, energy and transport, as well as in civil security and defense research, 11,000 employees in 51 institutes and facilities conduct research on technologies for use in industry and business, as well as for authorities, administration, and public stakeholders. The German Space Agency within DLR is responsible for the planning and implementation of German space activities on behalf of the federal government. Two DLR project management agencies work as management facilities for research and industrial funding. In this way, DLR contributes to strengthening Germany as a knowledge and business location and Europe's competitiveness.
