Aperçus et perspectives sur le climat et les migrations

The links between climate change, environmental degradation and migration are wide-ranging and context-specific, encompassing a range of types of human mobility and immobility, from planned to unplanned, proactive to voluntary to forced, local to international. This complexity and uncertainty shapes the drivers of climate-related migration, which in turn presents key challenges for the ability to anticipate and respond to future migration flows. There is a need for integrating environment and climate change related migration considerations into EU and national policies to strengthen EU and national migration governance. The CAMINO project will 1) develop a dynamic knowledge database and an exchange platform, for enhanced collaboration among researchers, policymakers, and practitioners, 2) co-develop a strategic roadmap setting out a policy and supporting research agenda to address existing gaps in the framing, planning and implementation of EU and Member State responses to human mobility in the context of environmental degradation and climate change, and 3) develop policy briefs and recommendations to i) improve the EU's understanding and preparedness, and ii) to enhance collaboration between the EU and third countries within the frameworks of relevant EU policies.
