Infrastructure de soins de soins de santé photonique pour une Europe résiliente

The pan-European Photonics TI initiative PHIRE represents a strategic investment in Europe's future health security, industrial competitiveness, and technological sovereignty. By addressing the critical innovation barriers faced by the photonics health sector, particularly its SME base, the TI will unlock the full potential of photonics to transform healthcare delivery and outcomes. The project's integrated approach - combining technological development with regulatory support, skills development, and market access assistance - will create a virtuous cycle of innovation that positions Europe as the global leader in photonics-enabled health technologies. Beyond the immediate project duration, the TI will establish a sustainable ecosystem for photonics health innovation that continues to generate economic, societal, and scientific benefits for decades. The infrastructure's governance model, based on multi-stakeholder collaboration and continuous adaptation to emerging needs, will ensure its relevance in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. By serving as a reference implementation for technology infrastructures in other Key Enabling Technologies, the TI will contribute to broader lessons about how Europe can strengthen its innovation capacity in critical domains. Ultimately, the project exemplifies the EU's approach to mission-oriented innovation policy that addresses societal challenges while creating economic opportunities and strengthening strategic autonomy.
