Goals

Île-de-France Mobilités is the public transport authority (PTA) for the Île-de-France region. It plans, organises and finances public transport and mobility services for all residents and visitors in the Paris metropolitan area. Chaired by the President of the Île-de-France Region, the Board of Directors is made up of local elected officials (Region, Department and City of Paris). It votes on measures to ensure the proper functioning of the Île-de-France Mobilités network and its modernisation. Its main missions include:

  • Defining and implementing the regional public transport policy;
  • Contracting and supervising operators such as RATP, SNCF, Transdev, Keolis and others to ensure quality of service, accessibility and safety;
  • Financing and coordinating major infrastructure and rolling stock modernisation projects (metro, RER, tram and bus networks, including the Grand Paris Express);
  • Developing sustainable and innovative mobility solutions, such as clean buses.
