Goals

Staburo offers pharmaceutical/biotech companies, contract research organisations, and medical device manufacturers the opportunity to use our statistical expertise. Our company is a biostatistics and data science service provider with expertise in the field of clinical research. The expertise ranges from the design of clinical phase I-IV trials (statistical input to study protocols, writing of statistical analysis plans, randomization, sample size calculation) and data analysis with SAS and R. For the calculation of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic parameters Winnonlin is used. High quality standards are ensured by independent validation (e.g. independent review, code review or double programming). Our statistics experts supported numerous clients in submissions to FDA and EMA.

EU Legislative Proposals of Interest

EU's pharmaceutical legislation in general. In particular Consolidated text: Directive 2001/83/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 6 November 2001 on the Community code relating to medicinal products for human use and EU Clinical Trials Regulation 536/2014 https://www.ema.europa.eu/en/human-regulatory/research-development/clinical-trials/clinical-trials-regulation The Digital Services Act is of course of interest for us too.

EU Supported Forums and Platforms

Our CEO Hannes Buchner is invited to a Podiumsdiskussion „Europäische Wettbewerbsfähigkeit“ im Europäischen Parlament on the 18th of June 2026. Other than that we were not in contact with Intergroups nor unofficial groupings so far.

Communication Activities

We are contributing to the development of guidelines by the European Medicines Agency if we can contribute with our subject matter expertise in the field of data science. two examples are 1) Reflection paper on a tailored clinical approach in biosimilar development; Reference Number: EMA/CHMP/BMWP/60916/2025 and 2) Guideline on adjustment for baseline covariates in clinical trials Reference Number: EMA/CHMP/295050/2013 Most of the time we are providing our comments via EFSPI European federation of statisticians in the pharmaceutical industry: https://www.efspi.org/ see below for our membership in organizations
